Chlorhexidine is an in-office and home care oral rinse.Used in conjunction with home care programs, Chlorhexidine rinse may be used for the treatment of gingivitis, periodontitis, oral irrigation, post-operative healing, and to reduce and reduction of tissue inflammation, bleeding and plaque accumulation.

Will Chlorhexidine stain teeth?

Yes, all Chlorhexidine will cause a slight brown stain.This stain is only extrinsic (outer tooth surface) and will not penetrate through the tooth.This slight brown stain can be easily polished away.Dentists can easily monitor home care use of Chlorhexidine by the stain on the teeth.

Does Chlorhexidine come in any flavors?

Dental Bibs

The 2+1 ply poly means there are 2 plies of paper and 1 ply of plastic backing to the bib, 3+1 is 3 plies paper and 1 ply plastic backing.

What is the difference between Professional Towels and the Dental Bibs?

Professional Towels are all paper towels (no plastic backing) and used as a multi-purpose towel (wiping down counter tops, hand towels and also as bibs).

Dental Bibs (poly-back) are used to drape the patient.They have a plastic backing for extra protection of patient's clothing.

What is a feature for the plastic backing?

Duraflor

Duraflor is used to relieve dental hypersensitivity, (when heat and cold aggravate the nerve of the tooth causing pain). By coating the dental tubules (small holes in the tooth)

with Duraflor varnish, this will relieve the pain from the sensitive teeth by preventing the air from coming in contact with the nerve.

Are Duraflor and Duraphat (made by Colgate) the same product?

Yes, essentially they are same product. They both contain 0.5 mg Sodium Fluoride, they are applied in a similar application (with brush or swab) and both make the same claims.Additional features for Duraflor include Xylitol (a sweetener) and Bubblegum flavoring. The additional benefit is increased patient acceptance.

How is Duraflor applied?

The Dentist or Hygienist paints Duraflor on with a small brush after the tooth is dried with air or cotton. Duraflor sets on contact with saliva or moisture. The patient may leave immediately following the application.

What is the percentage of fluoride that can be found in Duraflor?

1 ml of fluoride varnish contains 50 mg of sodium fluoride. (5%)

How long does one application last?

Studies indicate that Duraflor lasts up to 6 months.(Source: Canadian Dental Assoc Journal- Nov 1990)

Does Duraflor separate?

The new unit dose is designed to assure proper dosage for every application.

Is there a colorto Duraflor?

Yes there is a slight yellow tint to Duraflor, which will remain on the teeth until the Duraflor has completed its job. However, once dry, the yellow tint will diminish.

What is the recommended time to leave Duraflor on your teeth?

Duraflor varnish should remain on your teeth at least 4-6 hours for maximum effect.After the treatment, it is recommended that you follow a soft diet for the rest of the day and try to avoid hot liquids.The varnish can be removed by brushing your teeth.

How many applications can you get from a tube of Duraflor?

A 10ml tube of Duraflor can be used for 20 adult quadrant applications.Unit dose is 16 applications.
